Heather Sturgeon, PMHNP-BC, is a highly skilled and compassionate psychiatric nurse practitioner with over eight years of experience in mental health care. She earned her Master’s degree from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, where she built a foundation of expertise and dedication to serving individuals with complex psychiatric needs.

Heather began her career as a registered nurse in the child and adolescent inpatient unit at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital. During her five years in this setting, she developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by young patients, honing her ability to support children and adolescents through acute and complex mental illnesses. After completing her Master’s degree, Heather transitioned to outpatient care at Vanderbilt Psychiatry, where she focused on treating child and adolescent clients within the community, working closely with families and local school systems to promote mental health and resilience.

For the past six years, Heather has expanded her expertise by working in correctional settings throughout Tennessee. There, she has provided high-quality mental health care to adult populations, addressing a range of complex conditions and advocating tirelessly for access to quality mental health services within the Tennessee Department of Corrections. Heather is committed to compassionate care and empowering individuals across all stages of life to achieve mental wellness.
